What I Ate: Pizza, Art, Wine

One of the things I love about my friends, is that when Restaurant Week rolls around, they know that I'll be down to try some menus out. Food is my love language. So when a friend asked me if there was anywhere specific I would like to try, and I told her I had already conned someone in going to my first choice so she could pick, she went with Pizza, Art, Wine.

Similar to Jasmine's, the location of Pizza, Art, Wine has me forgetting about it. It's in what I call the melting pot of restaurants because it's in a strip mall that has nearly every cuisine you could want (burgers, Italian, a salad spot, Boba tea and mochi donuts, beignets, Mexican, Greek and Lebanese, Japanese). But it's worth a trip.

The vibe is super classy, but casual. When you step inside, you definitely don't feel like you are in a Baton Rouge restaurant. That's not a negative on Baton Rouge restaurants, but you feel like you would be a larger metropolitan city with the décor.

We got there for 5:30 on a Friday, and learned quickly that we should probably have made a reservation. We were able to snag a table, but by 6 most tables that had a "reserve" sign on them, which was all of the indoor tables (maybe 8) and a good many out on the patio, were full. We were sat at the patio and a perfect view of the sunset while we enjoyed our drinks and appetizers.
We both ordered off the Restaurant Week menu, with the plan to split our food so we could try more things. (Again, true friends know me well!) And we selected the bruschetta and the meatballs for our appetizers, classic starters for any Italian restaurant.

Both dishes were plated beautifully. The bruschetta was very fresh, and usually I don't eat raw tomatoes but I didn't mind these at all. The meatballs were cooked perfectly and were easy to cut and essentially melted in your mouth.

We went with pizzas for our entrees. We opted to go with one red sauce pizza option and one white sauce pizza option.

For our red sauce pizza, we chose the Lil Peppa because you can't go wrong with a classic pepperoni pizza. For our white sauce pizza, we chose the Salsiccia Con Potate. This pizza had mozzarella, Italian sausage, rosemary and roasted potatoes. I LOVE potatoes on pizza. It's not something that you see often, so when I see it, I want to take advantage of it. Both were delicious, but I preferred the white sauce pizza, while my friend preferred the red sauce pizza.

When these lovely desserts arrived, my friend made the comment that she felt Italian desserts were superior to other desserts. I would have to say that I agree with her on that. The only thing missing while we enjoyed the tiramisu and cannoli was a nice cup of coffee to wash them down with.

10/10 will return, and will make a reservation next time! While not my favorite pizza in the city, I feel they offer some unique flavor combinations that are a little more upscale than what you would normally think of for pizza. I think the options for toppings and the vibe is what tends to set them apart from other pizza places in the city. So definitely a spot to go to treat yourself while still enjoying something slightly comforty food-ish.
