What We Ate: Alexa's

I have watched this bakery from the beginning. I pass by it on my way home from work every day, so I've been keeping an eye on the progress. When it finally opened, I knew I needed to make a trip there.

So after my daughter and I had lunch one day, I asked if she would want to stop by here and she agreed.

I wasn't sure of the menu except for cheese cakes and dulce de leches, because that's what I had seen online. We weren't prepared, and I foresee many trips back as we work our way through their menu.

We didn't know that they had coffees and smoothies, and we had stopped at a new boba tea/coffee shop before heading this way. I definitely want to come back and try a hot tres leches latte!

We were greeted by a case full of enticing pastries. I also had no clue what half of them were, but that doesn't matter when they look this good. Alexa offered us a sample of each of her tres leches, and to be honest I didn't know that they could taste so different depending on the country of origin.

My daughter picked a brownie, and it took me a lot longer to settle on a slice of cheese cake. I went with one that has Nutella and Ferrero Rocher, because Ferrero's were my grandma's favorite candy ... and it was gorgeous.

My boss ordered lunch in for the office, so I took my "lunch" break and turned it into a fika over at Alexa's. When I walked in, I knew I was getting the tres leches latte, and then would let the impressive offerings in the dessert case speak to me.

I went with the Oreo cheesecake. She makes the BEST cheesecakes, so I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. But I wasn't prepared for just how good the coffee would be. I had been thinking about that tres de leches latte on the menu for a few weeks, and it did not disappoint. It was just sweet enough with the whipped cream, and with the perfect amount of cinnamon. I could see myself becoming addicted to this really easily.

If you happen to be around campus, definitely try them out!
